Re: Rare Entries Quiz IV
So if I've understood correctly, the final standings (until the next objection) are as follows:
1. Soup Dragon, 72 points
2. Root, 96 points
3. Steeevooo, 108 points
4. Sam, 144 points
5. greatkingrat, 288 points
6. scrxisi, 864 points
7. al, 3456 points
8. jamesthegill, 2304 points
9. Starkey7, 663552 points
Which is, I think, a convincing victory for the capitalised usernames over the non-capitalised.
I've added those scores to the spreadsheet.

I Object!!!!!
Question 5 - the last time I counted 27 years and 188 days was less than 28 years old...
EDIT: Sadly, this doesn't affect the standings as my score was so monumentally rubbish in the first place

That is a very good spot. However, I don't care.

I'm happy to take a break for one round. You're into football more than me, so you might be better with the questions.
Go on then, you do number five and I'll sort something out for number six. Sorted.

Ok, I'll do that this weekend and post it Tuesday.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz IV
That complicates the scores even further then. I had just decided that, seeing as greatkingrat only ran the first round, he could receive tubeguru's score for that round and tubeguru wouldn't have a ranking. Now if jamesthegill's going to do a round, I'll have to reconsider the scoring system for you three. Any suggestions? (You probably don't care that much)
I'm happy to correct Al's score, which is now divided by four thanks to the Jim Clark answer actually being correct and unique. This puts him joint sixth, sharing 864 points with scrxisi, if my calculations are correct.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz IV
Well, why can't we do what we did for the photo quizzes? I wouldn't score in the round I did the photos for, but would for the ones I didn't. I don't mind having a partial score for this competition, as I am the main question-setter.

Re: Rare Entries Quiz IV
I considered that, but the problem is that the photo quiz has a defined maximum score and each player, quiz-setter or not, gets a neat percentage score at the end of it. The rare entries quiz has no maximum score - indeed, high scores are undesirable - so what would the percentage calculation be?
At present, we've multiplied together the rankings in each round to get an overall score. If you don't enter a round because you're the quizmaster, what would your coefficient be? It can't be zero, obviously, and even if it's not multiplied by anything that would give an advantage over the other players.
Basically if we moved towards what you suggest, we'd have to reconsider the whole scoring system. I'm not averse to that, and frankly it doesn't matter that much, but we should think it through before we change anything.
