My thinking is that early May or early September would be best, as it would hopefully be warm enough outside in the early morning and late evening, but not swelteringly hot in the subterranean parts of the network.
What do those who've actually tried the full challenge think?
Best time in the year to do a tube challenge?

Leaf fall timetables add a minute or two to journeys beyond Rickmansworth, according to TFL. I think that's the 1st of October to the 2nd of January.
I don't think it matters really. I suppose in school holidays there'll be more passengers during the day, and a kid could pull an emergency stop lever or something like that.
