Hi! Only found the site yesterday, and it presented the solution to my shortage of random things to do while killing time in London - showing that it was easier to make a 'game' out of tube travel than I thought...
So, realising that an attempt would be impossible at the weekend, I dived up to London tonight for my first timed attempt at the 'All Lines Challenge', which I'd tried before, but not with a stopwatch or route plan.
To cut a long story short, I didn't pick the best time, as Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Victoria, Green Park etc. were all absolutely rammed (admittedly, it was 7pm on a Friday night), and the central, circle and metropolitan lines were all having problems... and I
just missed a connection at Whitechapel, that would have cut 5 minutes off.
This was just a trial run to find out what it was like, and practice for 'serious' attempts... and the time recorded was...
1 hour, 36 minutes and 20 seconds, leaving Bank at 18:23 and arriving in Shadwell at 19:59.
Will keep you posted on any other tries... no, I don't have proof of the time, but would it really be worth making up!? And that was tiring enough - I have more respect now for those who've done the big 275... think I'll save that one for the New Year!
