That's the original "weeks since last run" column. I mentioned earlier that I'd pasted it off to the right in case I didn't like the new "streak" column that replaced it. But as I like it, I may now delete the old column.geofftech wrote:Neil, what's the purple column on the far right hand side without a header?

I will state on record again u people living in London are lucky in most regards not price wise staying there but for example if u wish to cheat well easy just go different area. Park runs so many in London as Geoff says so many to choose from only thing don't get wasted Friday nights.geofftech wrote:Neil, what's the purple column on the far right hand side without a header?
Kev - was telling Andrew this the other day. I can get up to 67 venues all within an hour of where i live (which is what i think is a reasonable time to get somewhere). after that, do i really want to be getting up at 6am, and leaving at 6.30 to get somewhere before 9? Probably not - my name is not Andrew! So once i've done the 16 final London ones, that'll take me to exactly 50 too! and then there's 17 more just outside of London and in the South East that i can get to, and am prepared to do. After that, I think i'll just stick to being more local.
Unless any new ones pop up of course. COME ON WANDSWORTH COUNCIL, you f'ing idiots...
(i think it's fair to say that tractakid will just keep on going, and going, to more far flung place tho!)
I just got up to travel to Farnborough I will look at more farther ones for the fun of it but u have to admit u have a great situation there in London more to choose from and later waking up hours. Main reason why I forgot barcode too early in morning it be an honour to do a parkrun with u Geoff sometime in future when I can arrange cheap accommodation nearer London lol.

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
Geoff - you have summed up my feelings exactly, I have a few more to go within an hours drive and of course the odd inaugural in the SE will crop up, so I will just be rotating local ones I imagine... I don't think I will be anywhere near 100 venues in another 2 years timegeofftech wrote:

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
I have a Friday night parkrun ritual every Friday night.... Sort out running top, shorts, shoes or trail shoes, energy bar or banana, drink, map to venue if I need one and BARCODE It has become as much of a routine as the actual parkrun itself....palkanetoijala31 wrote: Main reason why I forgot barcode too early in morning it be an honour to do a parkrun with u Geoff sometime in future when I can arrange cheap accommodation nearer London lol.

Even willing tourists find it harder and harder to get to brand new events as they exhaust all the local ones. I have the additional restriction of not driving, but there are still plenty I can go to! Just means getting earlier and earlier trains. I've not even been to Northampton yet though!

"earlier and earlier trains" yeah, you say that NOW, but the day will come when you travel up somewhere the night before just so you can run somewhere the next morning - OH WAIT, Aberdeen! <- You already are!
I put my parkrun barcode in my Oyster wallet. as i never leave the house without my Oyster card, my parkrun barcodes therefore always comes with me, simples!
i feel like we should all converge on Burgess come the new year then. Andi, sure, why not - you can whizz round (and be the fastest out of everyone easily) in probably 20 minutes. Kevin, i'll pace you round and we'll get you in under that 30 minutes, OR BUST!
I swear that part of it is just mentally knowing that it's a fast course, so it makes your faster because you know it's possible.
Everyone fancy a PB-busting day out in Camberwell then at somepoint?

Some of us have been doing that a while. Earliest I've left is 8.20pm coach for Parkrun in London.geofftech wrote:"earlier and earlier trains" yeah, you say that NOW, but the day will come when you travel up somewhere the night before just so you can run somewhere the next morning - OH WAIT, Aberdeen! <- You already are! :lol

I've actually documented my methods of transport to get to parkrun. Out of the ones marked 'overnight stay', Ormskirk, Cheltenham and Whitley Bay were the ones where parkrun was the main motivation. I stayed at family for the first two, and the third was a mini long weekend holiday with my family, having said 'I want to go and do a really far away parkrun'.
Aberdeen will be the first solo trip, where I have paid for accommodation where I don't know anyone that lives there! Justified by the chance to do 3 in two days.

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
At the end of the day it comes down to have much time and money an individual wants to put into visiting new courses for what is effectively under 30 minutes of activity....
Most people already think I am crazy driving between 50 - 60 miles (100 - 120 mile round trips), using a 3rd of a tank of petrol, getting up before 7am and taking around 4 hours or so out of my Saturday to do a 5k run when I could be awake at 0815hrs and cycle to Bedfont for nothing and be back home by 1000hrs....
I do enjoy the buzz, but there is a limit on sleeping hours, distance and cost..........

Under thirty minutes of activity I protest. Especially as your PB is 30:14Going Underground wrote:At the end of the day it comes down to have much time and money an individual wants to put into visiting new courses for what is effectively under 30 minutes of activity....

parkrun is so much more than the running. It's the socialising, it's the volunteering and giving back, it's the adventure of how to get there, it's the online discussion etc.
when I go to MK parkrun I am usually there until 10:30 or 11, chatting to other runners in the cafe. so that makes 2+ hours of activity and that's just attending my home run!

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
My favourite part of parkrun is being up at 7am whilst the majority are asleep. Then.. getting there. Then the cup of tea and chats with people afterwards. Then the actually running itself... so that's 4th on the list. Except on the weeks when I PB (!) and coming home and looking up my time is my favourite part

Re: Tube Challenge parkrun league...
To be honest, I tend to arrive, check out the ground with a test run, decide which shoes to wear (sometimes meaning a jog back to the car round the corner), and then just doing the run. I tend to disappear immediately afterwards for two reasons. One - I am an unsociable bugger, and two - the run is at the end of a long, single-track country lane, and the traffic is murder if you all leave together, and have to contend with people coming the other way to walk their dogs in the meadow.
Fortunately, as I'm usually in the top 40 or 50 finishers, I'm able to leave while some people still have over one kilometre to go.
