Aerial Photo of Station Thing Quiz #7

Yes, it's back (again)!

For those who can be bothered, here's another instalment of your favourite quiz. So the question is, as always, "Which are THESE stations?"

Yes, there are actually two stations in this picture. I've tried to keep it as large as I can. Both stations have two platforms, but only one station has tracks running through both. The other station has been down to one platform since 1970. OK, that's enough clues - now to the photo:

Please PM me your answers. The closing date is Wednesday the 27th of June, at 16:00.

If people are finding this one too tricky, I can add more clues later ...

Yeah - just a bit tricky. Are both stations listed separately in National Rail Enquiries website?

Yes, they are listed as separate stations, although each shares part of its name with the other. It is quicker to walk between them than it is to catch a train, as should be obvious from their proximity.

No, the stations are considerably distant from London.

London is not the only urban area with red liveried buses!

Just do what I did. It's quite straightforward really. Start at Thurso, and work your way down the country. Eventually you're bound to come to it...

I passed through both of these stations within an hour of each other last year.

And as the 1,000s of entries are sifted through...

Ah yes, well remembered!

Well, I won't list everyone who entered, but everyone who DID got it right (I think). It was, of course, an image of the two stations just round the corner from my house - St Budeaux Ferry Road (two tracks) and St. Budeaux Victoria Road (single line). The next quiz will not involve a station that is relevant to my location.

It is in fact possible to get a through train between these two stations once a day. It takes 21 minutes though, so unless you are really lazy it is better to walk!

When you say "through" train, what do you mean? You have to change to get between the two by train.

A couple of Google Street views of the stations.

First, Ferry Road looking towards Plymouth: http://goo.gl/maps/TKph

Ferry Road towards the Royal Albert Bridge - you can just see the two lines merging into one for the bridge: http://goo.gl/maps/NTW3

Victoria Road, looking towards Gunnislake: http://goo.gl/maps/37H9

You don't have to change, it is a single train reversing at Plymouth.
