Shoreditch closes before T4 reopens!?

Post by hwolge »

Shoreditch will be permanently closed (at least from an LU perspective) sometime during June 2006, according to:

http://ellp.tfl.gov.uk/ellp.aspx/ell-current-work.shtml

It also seems that the T4 tube will stay closed at least until October -06. (T5 will probably not be in play until spring -08).

How will Guinness handle this situation?
* Is it a brand new configuration?
* If so will they also drop the current T4 requirement?
* Or, will they rule it's the same configuration, but you can do it without Shoreditch. I.e. Geoff and Neil's 18:35:43 stands until someone beats it.

My guess is the latter - which opens up for interesting attempts in July through September... My estimate is that the Shoreditch closure slightly outweighs the T4 bus mess - but obviously makes the overall planning a lot easier than today (due to limited hours at Shoreditch).

Any input on this? Anyone?

The network will be reduced to 274 stations.

T4 will stay in play with current rules until such time as it reopens.

Agreed.

But the new (274 station) configuration is a strict subset of the old, so the question is really whether Guinness will accept any record attempt or demand a better time than Geoff and Neil's current record? My guess is their record would stand initially.

Just to confuse things further, it is strongly rumoured that from approx 2008, the Bakerloo will once again run to Watford Junction, and even (possibly, but less likely due to lack of 4th rail) to Euston along the DC lines. This will add a few stations, to replace those stations sadly lost by the ELLs transfer to TfL control.

The Bakerloo will not run to Euston - that's not in the plans.

Once TfL Rail take over the DC Silverlink routes within London, the Bakerloo line is extended to Watford Junction (using cascaded Victoria line stock), TFL will run the following service.

Clapham Junction - Willesden Junction - Stratford (2tph)
Clapham Junction - Willesden Junction - Barking (2tph)
Richmond - Willesden Junction - Stratford (4tph)
Queens Park - Killburn High Road - South Hampstead - Camden Road (2tph) - Note that the South Hampstead to Camden Road freight line will be put into Passenger use.

Myself and the Toynbeast have discussed (well, texted each other) and agreed that we shall be one of them.

Start trembling, Geoff and Neil.

Someone else might decide to do the same thing..

Sometime back there was talk of the Metropolitan Line Watford branch being diverted instead to Watford Junction - anyone know anything about this?

Currently it is still in the funding stage but has been agreed in principle by all concerned.

It would have been better in its own topic, yes ...

According to

http://ellp.tfl.gov.uk/ellp.aspx/ell-current-work.shtml

Shoreditch will close on 9th June.

Any attempt I do, by the way, will be after T4 opens again (on my theoretical route I use National Rail/Bus from Richmond to Hatton Cross and add ten minutes to the time from Hatton Cross to take account of going round the loop)

Seeing as this topic is active again...

Has anyone done the Heathrow - Feltham (by bus) - Richmond (by rail) journey? If so, how long does it take? I tried using a bus all the way from Richmond to Hatton Cross, but it takes at least 35 minutes.

I did it the other way round - Richmond to Feltham took 11 minutes. I waited about 10 minutes for a bus and then it was about another 10 to Hatton Cross - total time 30 mins. So I guess ideally it could be done ni 20 minutes - if you are lucky with the buses
