I think 10 hours is a bit unrealistic. Back in the 60's, even with private transport, as far as I know the average time was 16-17 hours. Today, when we have to use public transport instead, I seriously doubt that that time is true. I dont see how its possible.

That's just set me thinking about how you could determine an absolute theoretical minimum time for the record, even allowing for someone being an infinitely fast runner. They would still have to take at least one train in or out of each station, and - assuming the trains don't travel any faster than usual - each link between stations has a known time, so you could find the minimum-cost set of links that touches each station.

But then I decided that would be silly, so I didn't bother.
