I was thinking that if I could attend (doubtful) and that station was drawn (unlikely) then I'd probably head to pub for some route planning too :)

Just noticed, why GMT? Because we will be in BST then? Surely you mean 1pm BST? (Unless you read it literally and take it to mean 2pm BST).

I don't really see the need to mention GMT and BST in situations like this, except if a day falls on the weekend where the clocks change.

And I've read about the previous Z1 challenges and read about stopping after 4 hours if you haven't completed it, and noting the number of stations visited. Is that going to apply this year? (I think it is a good idea, so we don't have to wait indefinitely for some challengers who end up taking an inordinately long amount of time, particularly if people have to get away from London by train.)

A more important reason is that gives guidance in case a line/station shuts down for some period of time! I agree, it's a good rule (that I first introduced...)

yes... "adults", silly me ... of course.

if Neil wants to pull the name out of the hat, that works for me. i can't imagine under any circumstance getting anyone 'known' to pull a name out. why the hell would they care?

the meeting point is yet to be announced because i) i haven't decided where it will be yet, and ii) [more sensibly] i don't want to make it public to anyone else that doesn't register their interest beforehand just in case it DOES get really popular/too busy. Zone 1's are indeed much more popular than any of the other challenges.

yes, of course you can get South West Trains between Vauxhall and Waterloo, duh.

yes, of course i mean one o'clock local London time, duh.

i'm still waiting for someone to come back to me to tell me on what route it was they ended at a station which they ran to and then had to wait until the arrival at the next station to mark their timing point. anyone?

I believe it was Starkey and Jamie who last year finished by running from High St Ken to Earls Court and then catching a train to West Kensington.

Indeed, although I can't remember where we started. I think that we were on a Circle line heading westbound at one point, and changed from it to a Piccadilly train at Gloucester Road to go straight back into town. We decided to do Earls Court later.

Well, I make that sweeping statement surmising from the old Geofftech which contained said photos.

Without wishing to sound either rude or impatient, please may I have my earlier question answered Geoff?

Does it cause you problems if I register then don't turn up? I'm not sure about when my exams will be or anything!

Sure ... make up your team name on the day day. I don't really care that much. You can do anything you want really, can't you? I can't stop you. You could lie about your times if you like, or just not do the whole thing at all, and just say that you did. You can refuse to register and turn up anyway on the day (because you could easily find out through someone else) and take part, you can really do anything you like because no matter what i write as the 'rules' somone will nit-pick, which (to me) is pointless because it's just a fun Zone 1 challenge and not a World Record attempt.
